I have a epox 8K7A and a t-bird 1.33. I have it set to 10x133. Sometimes when I boot I get a warning saying "Warning!! The system is over clock fail. Please setup cpu host clock in frequency/voltage control setup. I also see weird line down the monitor, but I can go in windows. It locks up ocassionaly.

On the board I switched the bus to 133 and in the bios I set it to 133 also. The cpu is also running at 40c in bios. I did get a little artic silver on the chip around the core. I will check to see if I got it in the bridge areas, even though it isn't conductive.

What is the best way to take off artic silver around the chip? I used alchohol but that doesn't work very well.

I think the psu is fine 400w is more than enough for what I use. I mounted the hsf correctly, otherwise I would have heat problems which I am not. I got some artic silver on the chip besides the core, do you think that could affect it.

Ohh yea, I didn't purposfuly put artic silver around the core. I tried to remove it all using alchohol put there are still traces left.

I haven't updated my bios yet, or my drivers. Just from the chipset cd I recieved in the mobo. It doesn't always do it either. I might have to update the drivers.

That won't cause it too much pain.

Does the PSU have an AMD approval ? Those mosfets need some oompphh!

Yep it does, he has a 400w antec psu. It can give out as much as 245w (5v) one of the best psu out their.

But is it actually AMD approved. The mosfet technology on the 8K7A and 8KHA require a great deal of oomph to operate at all.

If it's the Antec 403x then it's AMD approved its listed on the AMD web site :) As far as I know antec only has 2 styles of 400 watt supply The other is the 412 with the P4 approval. Have the 403x on my 8K7A+ with no probelms

Will my 300w psu that is amd approved and I belive recomended even gunna be enough? I've never had a problem power wise before ever... But I've also never had an oced AMD =) BTW if this helps I am probably going to be using this psu with an 8k7a and a 1.3ghz athlon...

I'm running my 8K7A+ with a 1.4GHz @ 1.533 on an unapproved Antec 300W with no problems so far.

I'm still going to go get a 400-450W soon as I get a little extra cash just to be safe.

Apparently lots of folks are having problems with 8K7A's version 1.0 people are clipping resistors and changing power supplies (enermax's are not playing well with these boards) My 8K7A+ seems to be doing ok with the antec 403x. But I have not overclocked it yet. I'm trying to see if any users of the RAID version boards are having power problems..

Well, I updated all my drivers and flashed my bios and I haven't had that problem yet, which is good. My temps are ok and I should be getting a thermal probe in a few days. Thanks for your help guys.
