Hey guys, I need some quick help. I was looking to get more performance out of my system so I did a bit of reading. I saw that if you injected thermal paste into the 24 Pin motherboard power connector and also into the cpu socket and the power connectors the video card itself it will cool better and it will up my frames. So, I did that today and for some reason there is a red LED light where my cpu is and it says CPU, I referred to my Motherboard manual and it said that it indicated a bad CPU basically, Could I have damaged my System? Here are my Specs, CPU: Intel I7 4770k @ 4.0Ghz, PSU: EVGA NEX 1000, GPU x2 SLI'ed Geforce Gtx Titans, Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z87, SSD: OCZ Vector 128 gb, RAM: Kingston Hyperx Predator 2400 MHz. Case, Azza Genesis 9000. Thanks alot Guys!

A lot of thermal pastes have silver in them which is very conductive by injecting it into your CPU socket and 24 pin connection you could very well have shorted out your Motherboard or CPU if not both.

Where did you read this?

I am not sure if this can or can't be cleaned out as I'm not too familiar with Intel this might be a better question to ask over in the intel section.

No marjamar, I'm not joking. And bassnut thank you for the info this isn't looking good for me. I didn't read online to do this in specific. My local pc repair told me about this.

Well, sorry it wasn't a joke. Sometimes it's hard to tell. Hope you have minimal damage. You obviously will need to do some delicate cleaning.

I'm now convinced you're just trolling these forums.

What happened to the Fx 8350 you had just bought to put on your Sabertooth motherboard, upgrading from your Phenom II? You know the one you had wanted to put mineral oil in the corsair H55 to cool it or was it for the Thermaltake Frio Ock CPU Cooler you were going to get, along with the second 660 to Sli with? Now you have a I7 4770k and a pair of Titans and you put thermal paste in the 24 pin power connector. I'm not buying it!

:bs:

Either that or a really bad PC Repair guy looking for help.

LOL!

This is the same guy who could run his RAM at 2400 with an AMD Phenom 2 quad core OC'ed to 3.5 GHz.

well he's either a troll or has no idea what he's talking about and neither do his buddies that give him all these crazy ideas. frankly if i offend you maybe it will just enthuse you to learn a bit before you post here.

No one on the planet who is smart enough to build his/her own PC, is dumb enough to do that to it. I'm not buying it for a second....

Maybe I should try what this guy is telling. The worst that could happen is I would destroy the mobo, PSU (the power connectors at least), CPU and video card in one shot. Then I can tell my wife that my computer is all messed up and I need to build a completely new Intel system. This could work!
