you'll have to check the properties in the raid controller and see why it's giving a question mark. If it due to a irq conflict then select the manual method then you can specifiy the free irq in the system and assing it. Normally when u assign a already used one system will warn you saying it's used by another device in the machine. So it won't be hard to find a free one in the system. some irq are being shared by the system very smoothly too so that's why u may find same irq used by several system.

im on a compac with no sound, the drivers are there, windows says that the sound is working, but i check in the bios and the bios says that BOTH the modem and the audio are using IRQ 10, should that be like that or no? i tryed switching one of them offa 10 but its a no go.

IRQ sharing is fine. Just set everything to use automatic settings and it should all work just fine. If there is a conflict there would be a little yellow exclamation point by the icon. Something else it probably causeing the crashing and rebooting.

It looks like you haven't install the drivers for your RAID controller. Other wise it would say the specific model (like Promise S8768 or whatever).

I have lots of shared IRQs and everything works fine for me.

I have an old socket A pCchips noname mobo that has a IRQ conflict. I cannot boot into windows normally, I have to use SAFE mode, but then I cannot get into the control panel to change IRQ's. I have tried the bios option but it has a very limited bios with no fsb, voltage or IRQ manipulation selections. Can I solve the IRQ conflict by resetting the bios or pulling out the cmos battery? There is no documentation on this board and nothing on PCchips website either.

I want to sell the mobo but I won't if i cannot get the problem fixed.
