So before throwing this thing in the oven, I decided to give it a solid visual inspection expecting not to find anything... Except I did. This right here looks like a problem. I'm guessing it cracked from doing -190C:

Is this replaceable/repairable?

The card is a phenomenal overclocker, with no coldbug... So getting it back alive is a fairly big deal to me.

By the way, the card reports that its not plugged into the PSU upon powering on - gives me the red text that says to connect the PSU, so I'm guesing this thing thats cracked in half is the culprit causing it not to recognize that it is in fact receiving its fair share of power.

Yes. What do the markings on it say?
If we can find a new one, I can definitely put it on.
I may actually have a couple on dead cards.

Ya, they are all the same in that area - thats the best I can make of it. It almost looks like a 7AM+ or a 1AM+, and my visions really good... But I'm not sure. It's just not a clear imprint really.

the biggest problem with those small smd devices, is that the iron has to be pretty nimble to keep heat just where you want it-yet get enough to sweat the solder.

I love teamwork. Nowhere in the world like this place

Rocking JLK, I appreciate the confirmation - it really doesn't look like an N on mine from eyesite, or maybe a smaller N than the rest of the letters/numbers.

Yes, the N is slightly smaller than the 1AM.

Sadly, I have two broken 4890's & I don't know what's wrong with them.

I baked one once, but I don't think I had enough heat. I'll try it again at some point, but the wife already thinks I have 'issues'. Putting video cards in the oven just makes things worse. lol

Yay!! I think that 4890 was mine at some point. Glad to see it still kicking and clocking like mad. :)

Yup, that was the card I bought from you Hokie - I think it was my first benching card.

Thanks BobNova! This card was pretty decent, looking forward to rerun it on Ivy.

I'm ordering a new MVG today - my current MVG has a cold bug.

More burned components from Matt's collection, no wonder you couldnt get the thing to boot. 3 dead caps in your power phase.

it burned through the insulation as well, that's how I noticed it.

Tis just a scratch!

To be honest, while I'd like to take responsibility for toasting the board... This went down at the Philly benching party, where it might have been me or anyone that toasted it. My board got around there. :)
