Hi,

First of all I wanted to say that your site is one of the most viewed site in my crowd of people. I am new here and I would like to try out OC on my system. Right now I have an Asus p8z68-V LX with an Intel i7-2700K CPU. I use a Gskill Ripjaws X 8GB with a Sapphire Radeon HD6950 unlock to 6970. My cpu cooler is a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus. Is this cooler enough to try out OC on my cpu and mobo? Should I be looking into getting a water cooler right now or will my Hyper 212 plus be enough for now. My caser is a NZXT Phantom with 5 fans in it.

Thx for any help you can provide

Your cooler should be just fine. I wouldn't bother with water cooling unless you really want to - your CPU will overclock just fine with air cooling. Just watch your temperatures and try to keep it under 65-70C at full load.

cpu cooler

:thup:Thanks much. I guess it is time to start the tryouts LOL:p

BTW would you recommend overclocking both the cpu and the video card or start with the cpu or start with the video card. This is for gaming purposes mostly.

Thx

Doesn't matter too much - overclock both eventually, but work on one at a time. I'd start with the video card because it's a bit more straightforward.
