Hey guys. I wanna upgrade my processor from an athlon xp 1600 to a xp2400.
I went to the abit website to see if it was possible and it was.. at least i think so, this is where you guys come in. I wanna make sure my mobo supports it. http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/bios_revision.php?categories=1&model=31 here is the link to the latest bios and previous bios revisions. The one labled B6 states that it supports 2400+ and 2600+ cpu's. I went to newegg and saw a 2400+ retail for 72 bucks which is just what im looking for. My problem is I followed the directions to update the bios and everything went as planned. My bios now reads CN which is the latest bios for my board, yet when I go into my bios to change the processor it only goes up to 2200(133). And if i try to go into User define it only lets me max the fsb to 250. Do I need to have the 2400+ installed before I'll see it as an option? or should it already be there? I wanted to check and make sure 1st before I bought the 2400+. Anyway I need help guys, please help me figure this out oh and I just read that pauls faq thing and it said something about version 1.0 of my board not being able to run 2200+ or higher without modifications, but my manual states: Supports AMD Athlon XP 1500+ ~ 2200+ or future socket A processors based on 200MHz/266MHz (100Mhz Double Data Rate) So I take it my board doesnt need the modding?
