the half purple and half silver component on the right hand side next to the fan's screw come off form my 9800 pro.what does that purple component do? what happen if i don't solder it back? would i get a decrease in perfomance?

that's most likely a capacitor. I can't tell you what that thing does, as I didn't design the card. But there are several options:
Nothing will happen and the card will work.
The card will be unstable or will artifact.
The card won't work.
The card will fry.

If you can, I suggest you solder that bugger back onto the card.

stick it back on :) I had an amp with a cap that melted off. The thing worked fine and i never knew untill i moved it and it started bounsing around. Poped new one in and was fine. Lucky me :)

i am not use to soldering things .is it easy to kill my card???what thing do i have to take care of while soldering???

You want to avoide too much heat, splashing sauder everywhere, connecting things you dont want to conect. I used the iron to heat up then remove the broken cap's leads, then stuck the new caps least in the same holes and put a dab o sauder to make it stick.
