Hey guys, whats up. I haven't been around here for a while, but I have been checkin the forums out alot lately as im about to build a new rig. Basically I want a kick @SS computer for gaming, some light video editing, along with the normal writing papers and internet surfing. Main foucus is gaming though. I have heard that for gaiming, defenately go A64. I only post this in the CPU section because my main deilemma is what CPU to get, or to wait. I plan to spend about 1,000-1,600. If this is a problem, please move my thread. Thanks mods.

Ive heard some bad things about the Nforce 3, that it had some issues and what not, but that was a while ago. Is this still a problem? Also, is it worth waiting a lil while for the new processors to really come out? What are your suggestions on all the parts? Any better ways to do anything?
Thanks alot,

"Mobo-MSI "K8T NEO2-FIR" VIA K8T800 Pro for AMD Socket 939 CPU"
have u notice u picked this Socket 939 Motherboard and a S754 CPU id go with a S939 3200+ 90nm when they come out

id also go with the OCZ EB Series DDR400 DualChannel 512x2 Ram

everything else looks great ud have one nice system

oh ya i didnt notice that, oh well, forget that motehrboard. Are there and s754 boards that have the VIA K8T800 chipset? because i heard of problems with the NForce 3. Have they worked these issues out??

IMHO the nforce3 is a better chipset than the Via. Take it for what it's worth, but i have tested both chipsets in the 939 flavor, and found Nforce more stable at OC. However I'm unsure which issues you may be refering too.

Personaly if I were to go back tp 754 i would purchase the DFI board. If you really want Via, then look at ASUS,or ABIT for solutions.

OK i decided to get the 939 cpu, AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 512K 939 newcastle core. Is that good or not? I think im gonna get that ASUS "SK8N" nForce3 Pro150 939 mobo. Is that a good choice? any reccomendations? thanks for all your replies!

Ok after alot of pm'ing between me and digits, ive decided to stay 754 socket. Im gonna get the DFI lanparty board + im thinking about getting the AMD 64 3400+ w/clawhammer core as opossed to the 3400 w/newcastle. The claw hammer also has 1mb l2 vs 512k l2. any opinions?
