Help me pick a large format display 28+" for gaming and multimedia! -BUDGET-

I'm looking a a 28"+ monitor that will kick *** for gaming and movie watching and I'd like to keep the individual price tag under $300.

Is all hope lost ?

It's primary use will be for gaming so I need excellent response time as I am a FPS gamer first and movie lover second.

I'm debating a 2-3 monitor setup and this will be running on a single Gigabyte G1 Gaming 970 for now anyway.

Does it absolutely have to be 28"? Currently there's this 27" Acer on sale for $195. I looked at the sub-$300 28" monitors on Newegg, the downside is they all seem to be VA panels, and while I have no direct experience with them, I understand they have kind of a bad real-world response time, even worse than IPS.
