This is on an ASUS A7V133 mobo.

OK I have the hard drive connected to the primary ATA100 blue connector, and the CD ROM is an Afreey 56x and is connected to the other blue connector. It will detect the CDROM, but should it be detecting the hard drive or not? Because it isn't. In the BIOS and in the bootup screen it says none. Should it detect the HD or not?

If your HDD works and boots into windows, you should be ok. I had an ABIT BE6-2 for a while before switching to AMD, and it never ONCE detected my HDD. My system worked great though. It has to do with something about a low level format which to this day, I still don't fully understand. I hope this helps.

have you gone into bios and checked to see what the IDE settings are there? sometimes they get disabled somehow, and enabling them lets you see them.

also, if it is working and you don't see anything strange in bios, then I would leave it alone

Well first of all....is your hd an ATA100?...and do you have the Promise Ultra ATA100 controller installed? If not you will need to get the latest drivers for it. Do you have Via's 4in1 drivers installed (4.32)? I have the same mobo...and mine works great. Good luck!
