Help me spend my $$$

Ok im looking to buy a new MB and DDR. I'm currently looking at the p4c800 Dlx and 2 sticks of Buffalo (winbond chips) 512mb pc3700 from Newegg for about $400. If this isn't an ideal setup. What would be better? I was thinking of getting the Giga 8knxp board, but i've seen such praise about the Asus board already. Any input or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The mobo is a good one (although I prefer the IC7). Not so sure about the RAM. Not many people have used it yet, but some of the initial results seem encouraging. If you do decide on getting the Buffalo RAM, be sure to tell us how it does.
