Help me troubleshoot a external modem.

Hey gang.. check this out.
This is a customer of mine...

Brand new Compaq
with external USROBOTICS modem

I'm trying to dial in with PCANYWHERE and i'm getting
crazy crosstalk/or line static.

replaced modem with same model 3X
replaced computer 2X
same problem with different phone lines (diffrerent #s)

we're trying to avoid sending out a new PC with a internal modem.

(old pc works with dial-in on PCANYWHERE. )

Perhaps something to do with the phone exchange?
