Hello new member here I currently have a ryzen 7800X3D alongside a seasonic gold rated 1000 W power supply a B650E as rock taichi lite motherboard, and an RX6700XT graphics card my question to the group is since the 9070 XT graphics cards are not only out of stock but way overpriced. Should I wait patiently in the hopes that these graphics cards not only come back in stock but also drop back to their $600 MSRP or should I opt for a used 6900 XT if it matters the used 6900 XT would only cost me between 500 to 600 bucks off eBay if I search well enough
If it matters, I game at 1080P 144hz and even though I love my graphics card some of the games I play either max out the 12 GB of VRAM or they run poorly because I like to max out my games

I mean, depends on how long you can wait.... we're supposed to see more stock in Q2, but who knows how much and if it's enough to satisfy demand (among other things).

That said, I doubt many (any?) games are breaking 12GB of vRAM at 1080p, it's just that your card is a bit long in the tooth these days with modern titles and the settings you want to run.

EDIT: Also, you're not 'new' here, lol..... was this a copy paste from a different forum?

I have a 9070XT i bought off Amazon which was $1k with tax and id say right now is the worst time to buy one unless you have the cash stashed. And imo i and why i went ahead and bought mine was that price is gonna stay high for quite a while.
Wasnt but a week or two ago i was facing your exact dilemma and i kept being told to buy a 7800XT but even that card is pushing $600 so i just gave in and spent the extra cash on the 9070 as it would be a long wait for the prices to drop and the way cards hold value now the used market is worse than the new market.

Ive watched youtube and you may get a good deal on a non-XT but the OC version and what i saw was that card is most likely a detuned XT and will OC past XT speeds. Thats hear say imo and im not betting my money on it but crazier stuff has happened.

I would wait for the 9070XT's price to go down. Getting an already old card is not the best idea, especially when you don't know how it was used. Many cards from the RX6000 series were used for BTC mining or other things, and they're too old to have any warranty. The RX9070 non-XT is also a good option, but it all depends on the price.

Newegg has a new RX 7700 XT for $460 right now, but I'm not sure it is a good enough bump from your RX 6700 XT. The RX 9070 will be a great option if they come back in stock at MSRP, we just have to wait & see.

If you have Microcenter available to you, they had a pretty good stock of RX 7800 XT cards around $530, but are mostly sold out now. Seems some stores have 25+ RX 7900 XT cards at $700 now though.

@EarthDog i have one final question how well would a 7800X3D and a 6900XT work gaming wise at 1080p thats the card im saving up for

It would work great! But, that's not a significant upgrade at allover your 6700XT........
.............wait, 5700XT? First post says one thing, sig says another, lol. Which is it?

I still aim for 7000 series if not have some patience for 9000 series. For the latter, you'll see it sooner than later. A bit more patience will yield a much better card all around. I could be wrong, but I'd be floored if you couldn't snag a 9060/9070 by the end of June. But yeah, 7800XT or 9070 is what I would shoot for.

I paid ~$950 for a top Gigabyte 9070XT model in Poland, including 23% VAT. If you have so much to spend, you'd better wait 2-3 weeks for the next larger delivery of 9070/XT series or try to get a 7900XTX for less. In the US, the most popular/available seems to be Powercolor. If you have a Micro Center anywhere near then it's a good place to check. If not, wait a bit and buy the new series as it's generally better in everything, or get 7900XTX if you find it cheap, as they should cost about as much as 9070XT.
