OK when I try to install the extra GB of memory (Patriot) windows wont start. It acts normal all the way to the initial start up screen and then it locks up. If I try safe mode it will start to load files then restart the system.

But I can run memtest off a ubuntu disk with out any errors?????

ANY known reason of why windows wont start with the extra ram..

I have thees memory:

sticker_small.jpg
2 sticks of each for a total of 3 GB of memory

I currently have the memory set at 3 4 4 8 timings but as the picture of the BIOS screen shows that their are more settings that can be adgusted...

Any one have any ideas of how to configure the memory to work the best.

Well I have determined (with help) that the Patriot and Gskil's just wont work together...

SO>>>>>>>>

I have decided to give my wifes Asus A8N5X a boost and replace the unmatched cheepo ram in it with the better Patriot ram.

So I guess this thread is dead....

The G.skill is cas 3, you have it set to 2.5 in the bios. Can't you use automode for your memory?
