This is what I have for a system so far....

1.2 axia Y
512mb CL2.5 Crucial PC2100
45 GB IBM 7200
MSI Geforce2 64meg Pro
SBLive
Linksys Ether
Promise 100ata controller
Koolance watercool system
MS-6341

The problem I seems to be having is the Motherboard. I had to replace the thing twice now. First time the bios was bad. It seems to be the same problem second time around also. I have also spoke with MSI tech support. They offered to send me a chip so I can swap the bios out. Did that and the board is still bad. After the third strike I am ready to throw this thing out the door. I am going to try to return the thing.

Can anyone please recommend a good board? I was looking at the a7a266 but since I have already invested in the DDR that board is not as appealing as something else. Is the 761 chipset still the best one out there? Any info you can pass long would be a great help.

From what I have read and researched on the 761, it is the best so far of AMD chipsets and being an AMD chipset, it is the MOST compatable with your AMD CPU. I have a KG7-RAID comming in tomorrow so I will be able to test it first hand and make a judgement.

yes the benchmarks prove it the AMD761 chipset is superior to the via kt133a northbridge, and you cant go wrong running an amd with an amd chipset.

Ack.... I was considering the Abit. Where did you order the KG7-Raid. From the research I have done today. I am leaning in that direction.. Please let me know which vendor you are getting those from because right now I am motherboard less.

I am not sure of the vendor selling these instock. I am in Texas and have a friend that owns her own computer repair shop and she said she ordered one for me last week. Cool friend huh? I think that she might be getting her components through the actual manufacturers as she is really well known in Texas and other parts of the US. We will see though and I have no reason tho think she is putting me on.

I'm in the same boat as you with a crappy ddr mobo.. it performs alright, but doesnt overclock well at all im sick of it.. it's the asus a7m266 mobo.. well i'm getting the abit kg7-raid for sure it looks very nice from what i have read about it, couple of places are already shipping them go to pricewatch.com they have all the places thier..
hope this helps
