Help needed: Folding with a 7970 troubles - bad WU's

Ok, Im trying to get things cracking for the CC. The 3570 + 690 is up and running seemingly well? HFM shows the GPU clients yellow for some reason but they are folding away...

Anyhoo. On the 3770K and 7970, the CPU is doing fine but the GPU repeatedly fails. No clue why. I have attached the log. Using W7 64, Newest F@H client, gpu at stock speeds, and 13.3 beta drivers.

Any help appreciated! I want to fling large piles of poo! :D

Not sure how much drivers play a role in F@H but just FYI I'm running 13.1 with no troubles on mine.

You need to set the beta for the core 17 WU's. Go to configure - expert tab. Click add on extra client options and enter client type under name and beta under type
 
No dice with 13.1 either. Still failing with the same errors.

Is it normal to get around 53k PPD with a 690(both cores folding showing 50-60 use) and 3570K(4.5GHz)? 690's are running the 7662 on core 17. CPU is running 7808 on 0xA4 core.

EDIT: Looking back, it seems low... as I was pulling 80K /day with a single 680/3570k/3770k both @ 4.5Ghz. Does core 17 neuter nvidia? If so, how do I get their PPD back?

Jaymz, correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always read that GPU slots should be lower than the cpu slot number.

So you need to uninstall and re-install the the v7 client.

You could also carefully swap their entries around in the client, but it's easier to just reinstall.
 
Tried that.. both manually switching them, and reinstalling. No dice. Still all CPU. Tried lowering clocks on the GPU in case... still no dice.

That said, the 3570k and 690 are running GPU/CPU/GPU (00,01,02). Though I think Im getting woeful PPD there (now sitting at 30K for that).

EDIT: Pausing the CPU client caused the PPD to hit 45k... I read somewhere that its one CPU core for GPU, so would it be worth it to set up 2 cores on the CPU or just rock GPU? Im leaning towards the latter.

Did you install the AMD APP SDK w/ latest OPENCL support?

Without the OpenCL included, you'll be folding like the old ATI cards, and need a core to help it out.

With OpenCL, you will use almost no cpu, and it's much faster, to boot.
 
I never usually install that.. so we will give that a try...

EDIT: So far so good. It didnt die instantly at least. Get 92% GPU use on 7662(3,23,80)

EDIT2: Looks to be good for 100k PPD between the two rigs. :)

try this, use 13.3 beta driver for amd, the latest v7 and set the beta flag to get 7662 wu for the gpu. my 2700k with a 7970 and a 6970 in the same machine with no crossfire bridge is pulling almost 80k ppd this way. been running for a week without a hiccup.
 
Looks like it pulled that WU... beta flag there.. all is well. 50k PPD with 3770K and 7970.. Sound about righT?

What about the 690? I figured 2 680's would fold better than 45k PPD... those are pulling 7662's as well and have the beta flag.

depends on the clocks. I have a 3770K at 4.5 and a 7970 at 1100/1500 an pull closer to 65-70k if I'm not gaming
 
4.5ghz on the 3770k. Should it read smp... As it says CPU. It defaulted to to 7 cores so I just upped it to 8.

EDIT: UPdated things.. no beta on teh Nvidia gpus.. using 3 cores there (1 core for both GPUs)... 72k on the WUs I have...(3570K@ 4.5Gh, 690 at stock) 3770k(4.5GHz)/7970(stock 1180/1500) rig now putting out 71k with those WUs. :)
