when i change the setting on my ga6bxc to 133mhx X 4.5 all i get is the cpu is a 600Mhz then it stops. At present i have a 450Mhz PIII clocked to 504Mhz with 128 meg of pc100 ram. i have heard that because it is a bx mother board i cannot change the clk ratio to any thing as it self detects what the cpu is.

CAN ANY ONE HELP

What you need to change: is the Front Side Bus, the cpu Multiplier is always the same,ie; 4.5 for a 450, I don't have your board, but most overclocking boards have a setting for Manual or something to that effect in bios, and or jumpers on the board to overclock should be in your manual.

All that i can change is the FSB 112 x 4.5 = 504Mhz is all that will work all of the other settings 66 75 83 and 100 all make the cpu slower, because of the clk ratio, so i am left with 133 but all that happends is that on boot up all that comes up is the cpu speed of 600Mhz then it stops.

try raising your voltage or it could be a heat-related problem.

the Pentium III 450 runs at 2.0v by default so if your motherboard supports the feature, raise the voltage to 2.05v or 2.1v or higher if there is no sign of improvement.

I dont think that it is a heat problem as i have 8 cooling fans, now the voltage is a hard one as my motherboard does not have any way to do this i have been told that i need to blank some pins on the cpu but i am not shue which ones or how to do it.

Going from 100MHz to 133MHz is a big step for the processor. Your PC100 RAM may play a role here too.

have you flashed your bios to the newest version? there are many settings in between 100 and 133. you could also use softset (i think thats what its called) one or more of the fine gents that hangout in here will post a link to it im sure. good luck

I have a "turbo" jumper on teh motherbaord (JP10) which i have switched on however when i boot up i still only getting the cpu speed comming up at 600Mhz the nothing. I have flashed teh bios to V3.0.
Any other ideas
