im not sure how the compaq performance is of late, but it sure does pack quite a package for the price. ive heard good things always about the thinkpads and have had some experience with them.

any opinions would be appreciated. ((feel free to toss in any other systems that may come in the 1000$ range that may compare to these 2))

The Compaq is a better deal. Try not to buy directly from the manufacturer, they will rip you off at every corner.

My acer 5100 series lappy was $600 from circuit city, 2ghz turion64, 1gig of ram, ATI radeon xpress 1100 graphics, dual layer dvd+/-rw, 60gig HDD. Runs WoW great and I love it.
