Hey guys, I just flashed my vl6 to be compatible with my celeron633. I cant see to overclock it though...everytime i do like.... 9.5 x100, when i choose "save settings and exit" it just kinda sits there and my monitor never turns back on. I have to pull out the power cord, and plug it back in. Are there any settings in the bios that i should enable/disable....i havent really fiddled around with any bios settings. thankyou!

you might need to up the voltage a little. up it by like 0.15v and see what happens. As long as you stay under 1.95v you should be OK. Assuming you have good cooling.

Engjohn is probably right about it probably needing more voltage, BUT I'll bet that there is no cooling done at all and that's really the main problem. First thing to do Nortoncat is to throw away that retail heatsink and fan then get a better cooler and install it using thermal paste. Add a couple of case fans, reroute wires and flat data cables for better case air movement, then try overclocking again. Except this time, try baby steps at first. Try using 75 MHz FSB (9.5X75). I'll guarantee success at this level. Now if that does work, you'll have more confidence and will know that you are on the right track. Try the next step of FSB. If you run into instability, then try bumping up the voltage one notch. Each time, do some benchmarks and check your temps. Good luck.

hum, i can seem to get the processor to work at 83mhz*9.5..........but anything higher...wont work =/

Burn it. It worked for me.

Burning is running the chip at a higher voltage for about 12-24 hours. It will help your chip overclock better.

But, as everyone else said, don't do it if you don't have good cooling.

What CPU cooler are you using? What core voltage? I'm guessing you need better cooling, then a little more voltage.

Just for a test i took off the heatsink/fan and put a high-speed 8" cooling fan blowing directly on the processor, just for testing purposes. I still couldnt get it higher than 9.5x83mhz. Anything with 100mhz wouldn't work....and anything higher than 9.5x83mhz wouldnt work =( suggestions? is it a vl6 thing?

I don't recommend running any CPU without a heatsink and fan cooler. You need better cooling. Maybe you should read some more of the beginner guides on the home page of this site. Heat is the enemy. Cool it down, use thermal paste, get a better heatsink. Add some case fans. You can't overclock without good cooling!
