Hi, I'm having trouble getting Windows 7 x64 to install on my computer. I was trying to do a fresh install to clean things up.

It hits an error when it tries to "expand files" that says "Windows cannot install required files. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code 0x80070015.

The motherboard is a gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3 rev.4 and I have 2 samsung 840 ssd's in a raid 0 configuration on the motherboards AMD sb950 ahci/raid controller (ports 0/1) and I have a sata bluray drive port 4.

This is not a problem with the windows 7 disk as I have tried a Win7 home premium retail disk, win7 x64 ultimate retail disk and burned disks, and Ive tried installing from a usb flash drive each time failing in the same spot... about 2% into expanding files.

Ive tried updated raid drivers from gigabyte no change, Ive gone through every option probably in triplicate in the bios pertaining to the controller/hdd settings. Ive swapped sata ports.

Is there something Im missing here? lol. Please help!!

Are the drives connected to the Marvell or AMD controller? And depending on which controller the drives are connected, I assume you downloaded either the Win7 x64 "Marvell 9172 AHCI/RAID driver": 4.1.0.2018 or the "AMD SATA RAID Driver (Preinstall driver)": 3.3.1540.40

Are you installing from a 'UEFI' device or a normal/legacy device? sometime that makes a difference

Ok, so I managed to get it working... I basically just set everything in the bios to legacy, removed every device plugged in that was not essential internal and external, and installed the AMD sata raid driver (the marvell driver is for the esata ports on the back). And I plugged the hdds into sata ports 4 & 5. So, guessing something created a conflict (USB device or sound card?) Anyway, gonna make note of it because it's not going to be the last fresh install lol.

And thank you for the quick responses!
