Hi guys, great forum with lots of information here, and I picked up some ideas in creating my new PC build. I was wondering if more knowledgeable members here could give me some feedback on the current build I plan to purchase and if all these are compatible. Also please remind me if I forgot anything important for building a computer. I'm not a tech saavy guy so a lot of it is confusing and my eyes are getting red lol

I would really appreciate any help/critique on my build and if you have any ideas on what I should replace or if they are all compatible thanks
:)

Go with the 4670k and an 1150 board instead of old technology.

GPU is cheaper on Newegg link

Get low profile RAM, you'll thank yourself later when you have heatsink clearance issues.
On that note, add in a Hyper 212 EVO. It's way quieter than the stock cooler, and will run at a much lower temperature.

What power supply were you planning to get? What hard drive?

Thanks for the suggestions
I was thinking of getting this hard drive and this PSU

and by 1150 did you mean something like this?

Also what do you mean by low profile RAM? Excuse my noobishness
I'm also trying to keep it all on a 1000$ budget

Hey, welcome to OCF!

When trying to recommend a build to you, there's some information that's extremely helpful for us to know. If you could answer these few short questions, we'd be happy to help!

  • What are you planning to do with this computer? Please be as specific as possible.
  • What is your budget (in your own currency)?
    1. Does this include a copy of Windows?
    2. Does this include peripherals (a keyboard, monitor, mouse, speakers, etc.)?
  • Are you from the United States or a different country? Are you ordering from your own country or from across borders?
    1. Wherever you may be from, does the store that you are planning to order from have a website? It's okay if it isn't in English, we can manage.
    2. If you are from the United States, do you live nearby a Microcenter?

Once again, thank you in advance for taking the time to answer these, and I hope you enjoy your stay at OCF! :)

Thanks for all the replies guys, appreciate it
Budget is about: 1000$ quite stiff I guess
and I'm planning on having just a gaming computer and I totally forgot I would need a copy of windows lol
I have speakers and will need to get a new mouse and keyboard
Also I do live in the US, California to be exact

looking forward to my stay :)

Oh also I figured with the monitor and keyboard it will be around 1245$
are there more budget friendly but still powerful GPUs instead of the 760?
I want to keep it ALL (including monitor+keyboard+mouse) for about 1000 and some change

but if 760 is really worth it I could stretch it

thanks again

Since you live in the US, look and see if there is a Microcenter nearby - they have really aggressive pricing on CPUs/Motherboards... right now you can get the 4670K and ASRock Z87 Extreme4 mobo for <$300.

As for other vid cards, its closest competitor is the AMD 7950. Those are retailing for about $30-40 less, so you could go that route if you wanted to. Check out this article:
