I've been upgrading my PC other the last year or so and i through i had got a good system together, but now i feel it could be alot better. I want to upgrade my CPU and PSU. I'm hoping to get a new PSU this week so that will be off the list. The problem with the CPU is which you buy and i hear that new motherboards with faster PCI slots so i want to wait to change the motherboard. Here is my system spec, what do you think i should change?

AMD Athlon XP 2100+
Thermaltake SILENT VOLCANO 9 “CoolMod” Cooler
MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR
2x Corsair XMS 512mb PC3200 Memory
Abit Siluro FX5800 DOTH Deluxe Graphics Card
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy ZS 71 THX
120Gb Western Digital (7200rpm, 8MB Cache)
160Gb Maxtor Plus 9 (7200rpm 2MB Cache)
Pioneer DVR107 ± DVD (x8)
MSI CD/RW (x52)
Thermaltake Xaser III W/ Window

Any help would be great :) i was also thinking of changing the case fans for the coloured ones and maybe getting the CPU water cooled.

Dude your computer is pretty good. There's no point in trying to stay on top of technology, because it's impossible and expensive. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, work on your car(Or get a girlfriend ) Your video card is your biggest "problem" but unless you find yourself needing better image quality, just hold on to that too. Pick up a 6800GT soon when those come down in price, and maybe a Raptor?

i would love a 6800, but i think i should get a new CPU first. I was looking at the AMD 64 bits chips or maybe an Intel one, but i have never brought an Intel CPU

Intel cpu's are good. I'd look at the 3.0C and the Abit AI7 motherboard if you want a decently priced and good performing combo.

What would you recommend for gaming and graphics? i'm hoping to do a computer graphics course next year so i would need it to be fast :)
