I have a Soyo P4I Fire Dragon motherboard and using default voltage on my northwood 2.0a ghz i can only get 2.2 ghz stable at 2.3 ghz windows crashes on boot and at 2.4ghz i get a checksum error in bios on boot. Raising the voltage should let me boot at 2.3 or 2.4 ghz stabily right? my only problem is i dont know what the default voltage on a northwood 2.0aghz is. My mobo says defauly and if you choose anything but default you have to select somewhere between 1.1v.and 1.8v. So i dont kow where to start? Also what combination of things will i need to get 2.4 ghz (120x20) from 2.0 ghz (100x20) right now im at 2.2 (110x20 and default volts). Any help is greatly appreciated.

I love my soyo P4I mobo the only problem is my sensors must be ****ed up because in BIOS i get 48C on my northwood, and 41C in windows. Yet with a enermax temp monitor with the probe touchng the core i get around 29-35C at most. And the mobo temp never changes while under stress whlile the enermax does

Also my mobo is telling me on sensor that my VCore is 1.46 in vios and 1.39 in windows wtf??

I wanna o/c but i dont know what to set it too so i dont fry my chip. If i set it to 1.5 it would be defauly regardless of what the mobo says??

Yes if you set your voltage to 1.5V that is the default voltage regardless what the mobo says. P4 NWs are known to report lower voltages than what is set in the BIOS so if your motherboard readings say less than 1.5V it's should be alright.

In terms of O/Cing and upping voltages, as a rule of thumb, I try not to increase my core voltage more than +0.3V above default.

well i increased the voltage to 1.525 from 1.500 and now i get 2.3 ghz perfectly stable but for some reaso it wouldnt do 2.4ghz even when i raised the voltage to 1.550. Any suggestions ? adjust ram maybe? icrease agp and ram voltage? what can i do t get 2.4ghz stbale? when i go 2.4ghz it says cmos checksum error, defaults loaded.
