Allright, I just built a system for my sister to take to college which worked fine, but now the only way it will enter windows is if the default display settings are set (16 color and 640x480). If I alter any of the display settings, at reboot I see the splash screen and just as windows is about to open it freezes on a black screen. I have tried reinstalling the display drivers, same problem. I am now downloading the new driver in hope that I had the wrong ones before. Any ideas what this could be? Help. Here are the specs.

Iwill kk266 w/ 1.2 GHz 266fsb
Crucial 256 MB PC133 CAS 2
Leadtek Geforce2 mx
Linksys 10/100 NIC
WD 40GB HD
50x cd-rom 16x10x40 TDK cd-rw

I installed the via drivers 4.32 I believe, and I haven't been able to get ahold of an updated bios (Iwill's site has been down). What could fix this?

ps. I put this in the AMD mobo section because I thought I'd get a better response than in windows/os or vid card section.

What I would do is boot into safe mode and go into the device manager. In there, remove ANY drivers that are listed under Display Adapters. If there are multiple instances of drivers (even the same one) this can cause the problem. Make sure there are no drivers present for the Video card in Device Manager and then reboot the system, install your new drivers when the system restarts.

That's where I would start when I have had this problem.
