First post here, I am using a Tyan Tiger MPX motherboard, it supports dual mp, or single xp processors. Currently i have a single mp 2000 in it. I have no problems with the computer, but i need some help.

First, i need a temperature monitoring utility for my processor
Second, i want to add a second mp chip
Third, i would like to know the differences between the mp and xp chips. why one is better than the other
Fourth, i want to know your guys opinions on my mother board and my processor. Dont hold back
Fifth, Is there anyway to modify my board to accept dual xp cpu's? currently it only accepts single.

now i am brand new to modifying cpu's and motherboards, but i want to learn, and to beef up my system. Thank you

Also, i have about 6 computers running SETI 24/7.

Please help me, im pretty concerned that i am not able to monitor my cpu and computer temps.
thanks

I'm not sure about temp monitoring, but with some work you could install one yourself manually. About the difference between an MP and XP chip I believe is the L5 bridge in which I think on the XP it's locked or closed, and not on the MP. So, I'm pretty sure you could change an XP to an MP with unlocking the L5 bridge, but I'm not 100% about that.

MBM5...you can find it here.

Depending on how lazy you are or how much $ you wanna spend, you luckily have another option...XP & Morgan Duron's!

The MP has better algorithms for data integrity within the L2, and a few other notable's not coming to me right now...(I'll post more later when I dig it up)

I don't see anything wrong with your system. Stability is of importance in a dual. Overclocking isn't. You have a nice stable board. Tyan has a good reputation in the dual arena.

Sure. You will need to retrace all the L5 bridges together. This can be done with the XP 1500+ through 2000+. I haven't seen an information on the thoroughbred XP's.

BTW, what part of Ohio are ya' from?
