the clock generator is situated next to a silver chip that has the quartz crystal in it, it is usually either next to the agp slot, up in the top right hand corner, or next to the northbridge, some boards have more than one quartz crystal (my bx board has 2) in which case take down the name and code of any chips you think may be the clock gen and look for one in either softfsb or cpufsb

Thanx for the help...

Its a GA-686BX and its been a evil motherboard to try and overclock. I know more information on other motherboards than my own, its hard to find info on it. as I write this I'm going to see if I can find it... thanx alot for the help.

p.s. Also, if by CPUFSB you mean Soft FSB, I can't find it, and thats why I'm looking for it... to use that program...

OK, I got two numbers:

the lowest, wich was right above the AGP slot:

ICS 9148BF-10
9804
CA830016

the highest, to the left of my P2 Processor:

ICS 9179BF-01
9812
CJ860040

Wich 1 is it...?

No, by CPUFSB I mean just that. It is another soft oc prog. The few Giga boards I see listed use PLL-ICs starting with 9148-26. That would be the GA-6bxc & GA-6bxdYou can D/L CPUFSB alone or it comes with CPUCOOL also.
