High Temps?

i have a athlon 1600+ and with my old thermaltake 6cu i got around 37 or less... i went and bought a volcano 9 coolmod and now i get 49 usually.. even on full blast i get like 47 or something.. anyone have any ideas why this heatsink is worse?

I doubt 6cu could get you down to 37C, there must have been an error somewhere. Your temps are actually normal right now, try AS3 if you haven't done that

Make good and sure it's seated properly and that there is good strong contact with the CPU.

That v6 could give temps like he stated. I have one and it is a decent hs. Kept my stock 1700 under 40c at 100% load. Not great for OCing but at stock it works real good. As for the v9 I would check it for flatness. I recall reading about problems with them not contacting the core evenly. Pull it off and keep it as level as you can then inspect the thermal paste left on the core for signs of noncontact.
