I am not lucky enough to have a room for a lab.. so I make my lab along a wall in the basement, but since I pretty much have the space to myself, it usually spreads much to the annoyance of my family. And since I am a natural slob, I know exactly where everything is. When someone decides they need some of my space and cleans up.. is how I lose things.

I need a bigger house (n)
 
This one is a lot cheaper.....What do you guys think of this one?

I imagine it's fine, I know a lot of people like the QNAP systems as well, probably worth looking up the difference(s) on various reviews/specs/etc between it and the competitors.
 

I will just throw this back out there, its not much more but its lets you use a real CPU which will have so much more performance than the embedded solutions in the QNAP.

If you just dont want to DIY and dont mind having limited virtualisation abilities then yeah, the QNAP is fine for that.

That is interesting, Mr Infinite however, it appears the MB is not available there? Other than that, building one sounds cool too.
