If I had files on my PC that I wanted to share, but didn't want to use one of those file sharing programs, would there be any way to turn my computer into an FTP site?

its not hard at all to set your computer up as a ftp site...
there are a few small programs you can use
a few are :
serv-u ftp server <-- good for new ppl to cut teeth on
g6 ftp server <-- my favorate
read up on these and set one up..
it helps if you have a fast internet connection too...

I used GuildFTP the first time I set up an FTP server. ITs freeware and got good reviews from tucows. I also used This Service to route to my service-also free.
