i'm gonna preface this with a "back in my day"....

horizontal cases were called desktops and normal computers like today were towers. so if you see me talk about desktops i mean horizontal cases and i am not comparing against laptops or anything else.
with that said...

I've been looking to make some upgrades to make it through the last 4 years while i can, if you know what i mean. there might be some incremental upgrades like a drop in CPU and what not here and there but getting some major ones out of the way.
I've been considering a new case and i kinda liked the BeQuiet 900 DX convertible case so theres a desktop "mode" to it. I also like the ability to jam a 420mm AIO in it too but its kinda deep but it got me thinking

What other desktop (horizontal) style cases are out there?
So far i've come up with that bequiet:
the smaller version of the same case:
and a Gamedias (?) NESO P1

Are there any others out there that will fit extended ATX boards and 420mm AIOs?
Just trying to weigh my options here.

The aim is to get it under my monitor while having my monitor on an arm above and kinda free up some desk space
my AIO choice might affect this too but thats for another post in the cooling section

The only one that comes to mind, but it does not check your E-ATX box. I'm currently building it's smaller brother the 300 and intend to experiment with it displayed horizontal as well.

Silverstone used to have an assortment of HTPC cases, some of which were ATX. Although, I think most HTPC cases are designed around mATX.

now is this one able to go flat on its back or is it angled only?

Yea thats kind of what i have been noticing. i have a mATX system but i actually really like the cheapo tower case i got for it super cheap. morovo or something like that.
its a tower though hiding behind my tv

Not long ago I had the idea to design a somewhat modular horizontal desktop. Base box for the core components. Storage in another. Cooling in another, etc. As I'm not a designer, it's nothing more than pie in the sky at the moment.

Shame that things are either ridiculously large, or very basically small.

I ended up building my own custom case, and I am working on another because the desktop case with full-sized GPU and ATX is non existent.

Another option would be a CoolerMaster HAF-XB...if you can find one. As JLK mentioned there are several HTPC cases that would fit the bill. The problem I have with most of them is they are not designed for high heat components. They make them ultra compact with minimal air flow considerations.

The OP stated in their opening post the need for EATX or ATX...don't know about all these smaller cases being suggested. It was also stated the desire to clear up some desk space...I don't see any of the cases he listed as being space savers lol...horizontal or not. The video short gives perspective on just how much space it takes up in a horizontal presentation.

I wish i could but i have no place to work on something like that. Currently living in an apartment in a downtown setting above a business

i remember those, and a thermatake that was out around a similar time, those are too tall to have the main monitor over though. thats what i am aiming for ultimately

having it under the monitor, on an arm, would free up enough desk space...
