okay, at my work, there are about a total of 10 computers, including the server (which i will call isp from now on) and the 9 registers. keep in mind that this is a mcdonald's. :p

my area manager knows that i am good with computers and all that fun stuff, so i get all of the fun jobs... now after they got the isp a couple months ago, they haven't exacctly learned how to organize computer parts and networking stuff. so here is what it looks like:

what a mess of crap... as you can see, the cables all come from the jack in the wall and connect to the hub. i wanted to hide all of the cables and such and i actually got it done last night... i didn't get the chance to take any "after" pictures since it was after close and i put my camera back in the car while i was working... i ended up hiding the hubs and cables temporarily under the counter where the isp (which is the white computer) is sitting. i made a really pathetic shelf for it to sit on (they want it to be inexpensive, and i picked free for the time being). i was curious if anybody had any inexpensive suggestions on what i could do to make it even cleaner looking...

if nothing else, post pics of your horrible networking mess :D

i know that there is a nasty mess of cables in the corner, but that is for another day since i will have to completely shut off the system (can't be done when the store is open).

for now, the computer is pushed parallel to the wall.

they also would like me to even move the computer to a shelf above the counter that the computer is sitting on...

i will add some "after" pics after i get off work today and some pics of the shelf...

This mess isn't mine, but is a mess none the less:

For cheap, my suggestion would be to unplug everything, get some cable ties, and tie all the cables together as much as possible, get rid of any stray wires, bind them all up whenever possible. Makes it cleaner.

For spending money, you could put in a few raceways to hide the wires (raceways = little or big "rails" that are connected to walls that you can put wires inside of).

For spending gobs of money, you could put in a patch panel, and have all the wires run to the patch, then patch from there to the hubs.

Heh I like the modems hanging in mid-air. Looks like an ISP that started with externals and just kept them in use when they started going with rack mounts!
