How can i get this stuff off?

I have an AMD Duron 1.2, and when i first put it on, i used the crappy pink pad that came on the bottom of the stock HSF. I got a Thermaltake Volcano 6cu at a local shop to put on it with some radio shack paste, but there is still all this hardened-like pink crap on the top of my cpu. What can i use to clean it off of there without killing my cpu?

I use a bit of WD40 and a light rag. Meths is another good one to use.

Don't scrape it with anything.

i scraped mine off with a razor. i know that'll ruin the contact but i wasnt going to overclock that setup.

Whatever you do don't sand it,I did that and had to engineer it to work.
