I tried sandra to get mainboard info. I creapt inside my case to try and matchup my mobo to .jpeg's on googlegear and pcnut.

OK, so I could've just done a CPU/BIOS information in sandra, which I just did, I am socket370 fc-ppga.
It also says about; P6C(coppermine), what is that anyway? and voltage 1.3-1.75 does that mean when raising my voltage I can only raise it to 1.75? something about a zif socket too?!?!

ZIF=zero insertion force (or something similar)

That is just that style of socket with the lever. Doesnt matter.

P6C (coppermine) means you have a pIII with coppermine core (that is 0.18µm technology) and fc-pga is a packaging standard for chips, it just means its on a single chip (not a module)s370 means socket 370 (370 pins on your cpu)
the 1.3-1.75v thing really doesn't mean anything; it just says there are coppermines that use 1.3V, 1.45V...1.75V, it depends on your chip's stepping which voltage is default... you can go a lot higher, but keep an eye on your temps!!!

thanks for the help The Stinkie, Speakin about heat I bought a golden orb last night, do you think it was enough? 20 cfm only, but also only 26dB, as compared to some fans of the same specs with 45 dB. I have some other fans also to cool down the cpu and the everything else In the side of my case and some layin around that I could slap in.

I wouldn't trust Sandra on this. It reports my 370 as a slot 1. Check out an online motherboard/CPU vendor. The fancier ones will have pictures that you can compare with what you have.

I'd leave the orb in the box for now and do some reading on heatsinks, you'll be glad you did before you fired your chip with a orb.. it cools, but I personaly wouldnt trust it for overclocking, its more like a figure peice then a functioning part of hardware IMO..

I'd recommend getting a Gladiator, but thats just IMO..

dig around, do some reading, you'd be suprised.

P.S: good luck
