OK I give up

this is probably a stupid question but how do I get rid of Windows messenger?

also can I prevent it from starting at boot up without deinstalling it?

Thx

There is a thread on uninstalling it about here somewhere.

Try using msconfig and editing your startup list - that will prevent it starting at boot time.

I think it is often hidden from the control panel - removing MSN is mentioned in a thread in 'other software'.

you have to fix the sysoc.inf (this works in xp) remove "hide" then you can remove the program from add/remove programs
