i have an asus p2b-f motherboard and a pentium2-400mhz. i raised the FSB from 100mhz to 112mhz by changing jumpers. how do i know it overclocked? in my bios setup, it shows 400mhz. in my asus pc probe program too! is that it? the overclocking is hidden? please help me!!!
can someone give me a tip or smth? HEEEEELP!!!

I have never heard of the bois hideing an OC but I use Abit MoBo's. One wat that you will be able to find out is by using a program named WCPUID you can download this @ tweekfiles.com under cpu. This givees you detailed info of many parts of your putter. Including FSB and internal colck speed. Hope this Helps you...

WELCOME TO THE FORUM

the rite spelling is http://www.tweakfiles.com also there is a link in the tips section on front page under utilities.

well it sounds like nothing changed to me i would read your motherboard manual to find out if there is another jumper that set's it to user define for FSB, hopefully it is working and Cpuid will tell you if it is rite or not.

good luck

thx you guys! i did it just like it was in my mobo manual... but i think there is a lock somewhere that can't let me overclock it!!! i heard that pentium2 has a multiplier lock but i can change the fsb to overclock it... well, i will get that program and then i return here... see ya

WHY???

well, it didn't work!!! it's still 400mhz...

what can I do??? how do I do it??? HEEELP!!!

Which bios version you got? If it is the original you should flash to newer - there has been some issues on CPU speed on older bioses, but I don't know if the problem was same.

I have also P2B-F and at least for me bios (1013.a)reports processor speed correctly. I don't know if PII acts differently from celeron or PIII FC-PGA I've used on this MB.

You can verify if your overclock works by testing CPU speed with some benchmark like sisoft sandra.

yes, it is 1013a ! i move jumpers and nothing happens! is it locked?

Exactly what jumpers are you moving? Yes, that CPU is multiplier locked so don't try changing the multiplier. I think that P-II 400 should be set at default settings of 6X66 MHz. Find the FSB or bus speed jumpers and change those from 66 to 75 MHz which should give you 450 CPU speed. That's about as far as you should go until you do some cooling stuff.

nope, the default setting is 4x100mhz...
and i still can't OC it... i change the FSB jumpers and nothing happens...
I'M SURE THAT I'M MOVING THE CORRECT JUMPERS!!! I HAVE THE MOBO'S MANUAL!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!

If you want to go higher with FSB you must disable pin on back side (B) number 21. There is numbers on processor so count number 21 on back side of the processor with peace of cellotape, pice of paper or nailvarnish. And voila hte FSB is unlocked.

No there isn't another way, I had an old celly 300 and if I raised FSB to 75 and higher, the machine didn't boot. But when I have disabled pin B21 it worked on 103 FSB = 463Mhz. Or the second choice is to buy new board with softmenu as Abit BF6 or BE6-2 or another(These motherboards diasbles pin B21 defaultly and you don't need to disable this pin manually). This was another attempt from Intel for no overclocking on their chips.
