bpftp is pretty straight forward to set up. one of the most secure (and confusing) is RaidenFTPd. it's got more options for security than you know what to do with....of course you'll spend days figuring out how to even set it up.

They are all vulnerable. Just use IIS to set up the ftp if you merely need a simple FTP server. It is very simple to get going. Make sure you set up the user accounts for it or else live with Anonymous clients (something I wouldn't suggest though). Make sure you set the bandwidth throttling unless you want your FTP server to eat up all your bandwidth.

If you want extra security, make the user accounts you create only be able to access the FTP server and the files needed. Make sure you don't give anyone admin privs!

I windows 3k advanced server go to computer management.

Under computer management go to >>services and applications

under that go to >> internet information services

You will see a tab for default FTP site RIGHT click that and go to properties.

from there you will need to enter your IP address keep port 21 the same

under security accounts : this is where you can add users to access your site.

under home directory : this is where you will set up the starting point for the FTP users.

If you need help with any spsfic part let us know..there kind of detailed in their own setup aspects but easy to figure out once you get to playing with it some....Hopefully what I gave you here will at least get you started. Feel free to ask many more questions.

All FTP Servers leaves you open to any attack. Your computer is open to any attack period. I use WU-FTPD and all I do is shut it down when I'm not using it.
