I recently had my harddrives on my raid channel on my Abit KT7A-Raid mobo(both seperate though, not raided). I want to put the main harddrive back onto a regular IDE channel. So I removed it from the array, fdisked it so it was empty (the raid says its an empty 30gig), put it on the IDE channel, and it only says its a 2gig drive in the bios and in Fdisk. How do I get my entire harddrive back?

Or are harddrives raided forever?

help?

Well, make sure your jumper settings on the back are correct. Check the HD MFG.'s site for info.

Try low-level formatting the hard disk and setting up anotehr partition for it with large disk support. I think disks are raided forever, not sure tho, not a raid guy

The jumpers are right, no info on the mfgs site.. Seems I am once again the only person that encounters this problem with my stuff.

The thing is, the hard drives were just on my raid channel. They were NOT in an array. Just two seperate drives, setup just like if they were on an IDE channel. The bios says its just a 2 gig drive. I flashed the 3c bio upgrade, same thing. Tried manually setting it, and the maching wont boot. The hard drive software sees it as full size, but my bios insists its a 2 gig drive.. I cant figure it out. Arg!

BTW: I just there the drive in a Comcrap.. And it saw it with no problems... oy...

No... You should be able to use a disk previously in raid for anything else.

Low level format the beast and it should be good as new.

I've taken my 2 15's apart a few times with no problems. See if you can get Maxtor's maxblast utility from thier site. It works with all IDE HDs not just maxtors.

Well, After countless formats and CMOS resets... I went to Maxtors website and checked the jumper settings for my harddrive.. Apparently, the settings I had used (in reference to the documentation that I recieved with the drive) were wrong, but even the Maxtor setup software didnt pick up on that.. Hmm.. odd.. well, after 6 hours.. I belive it should work finally.. :)

I had the same problem. I changed the setting from what I thought was CAble Select to Master, It started showing my 15 gig at 8 gigs.
