How do you get steam to stop launching on startup?

I was able to disable it before, but I recently reinstalled it and I cant get it to stop starting up on boot.

Have you tried the settings menu yet? Otherwise you could try the Start>Run command to turn off steam.exe on startup.

ALso in windows XP there is the msconfig option that will allow you to see exactly what is loading on startup and stop it that way :)
 
That's the pain with steam, even if you disable start with windows, is still does (for me anyway).

A solution is:

GO to start>run type in "msconfig" hit enter.

Click the startup tab, and steam should be listed. Uncheck it and reboot.
 
It doesn't startup with WinXP for me... You can definitely do the MSConfig thing. I personally like to go to the registry and edit the keys myself ;)
 
View>Settings>interface and uncheck run steam when windows starts
