Used to see them a lot when XP first came out. Rarely see them now. Usually when I run a program and see that, it means that there is a bad .dll or a .dll the program uses has been overwritten by an earlier version. Or the program involved has not been upgraded to work with XP.

We got about 3 dozen laptops at work that came with XP on them. All would boot up with that error message when they coudn't locate to network.

I get them when I overclock a little too far, and my processor needs just a bit more voltage. I also never send anything to MS.

I get it on Win2k when I'm playing some internet (shockwave) game ...
