The great USA!
I just purchased Unreal II (CompUSA has it for $9.99) and download the FREE XMP add-on multiplayer game and all I can say is "WOW". I played the demo and loved it, but the full game is even better. I love the team aspect of this game, hugh maps, intense play. If you haven't played it make sure to download the demo, i'm sure you wont be disappointed. Just a side note, if you haven't played this game watch the built in tutorial, because this game can be kinda confusing at first.

Played the unreal II xmp demo at a lan party last night and it was awesome. Far better than UT2003. My gaming group was pretty shocked at how good the demo was, and how much fun we had on just 1 map. The team based play was very entertaining and there was plenty of different ways to help your team.

They did alot of things right it seems. It gives me hope for UT2004 :D

Argh. I hated the demo. The physics just ruined it all. The vehicles are freaking rocks on ice. And not like... hard rocks... I mean like... pumice... yeah... they get destroyed really easily... yeah...

I HATE TEH GAME

Is this the same as unreal tournament 2003?

Not really. It has vehicles and different objectives, but team play is really essential to help your team win.

UT2004 is going to have vehicles and such, but not sure if it and XMP will be similar.

I HATE TEH GAME

In Mother Russia, game hates YOU!

I got UII. I didn't like XMP too much. I played it for a few minutes and then had to completely relearn how UT2003 worked.

UII the game isn't *that* bad, though.

Howdy. Newbie here that actually read the FAQ before posting. :)

I bought Unreal II earlier this year without really expecting multi-player. I've heard of promises about mp being added later, but to be honest I thought they weren't going to carry it out. But I'm very glad they did. It's alot of fun, even though there are some faults in it.

The raptor is a pain to drive, but anyone can get use to it. Oddly, I find the harbringer to be 10x easier to drive. And besides, it has a cool horn.

Also, there's going to be a community pack coming out soon for XMP. check it out at http://xmp.beyondunreal.com/

Thanks. I've been lurking here for a while and the people here are pretty nice.

As for the mappack, I dunno how but I found alot of german servers to have it already while I can't find anywhere else to dl it. I have a few in my chache folder that I got from playing on those german servers and I'm trying to figure out how to load it up and just explore it myself. So far no luck. Anyone know how? :)

I liked the original UT a lot, but it just seemed like they broke with tradition way to much when they made UT2003. I basically just wanted UT with better graphics. But I've sort of out grown that style of FPS now anyway. I like something a little slower paced with more team cohesion.

Btw, I've been lurking around for awhile too.

Can UII still be had for $9.99 anywhere?

I heard it was very short so have been waiting for it to get really cheap before buying and $10 is right in my price range:D

EB is a block away, but they probably want $20-30 for it still:eek:

XMP is kinda more slow paced then the UT2003. It also offers alot more teamplay. If you haven't, dl the demo and give it a go.

As for UII costing for 10, I dunno if they still do. I went to Fry's the other night and it was still 30 bucks. The same price as UII with XMP included. Ah well, it's alot of fun. It's no Deus ex, but still not bad for mindless fun. :)

Not sure it can still be found for $10, but I have found it for $15 using froogle.google. Tons of online places have it for $20.
