I don't know if it belongs in this forum, but I couldn't find one that it was specific to.

Basically you wire a spare 5v wire to the center mosfet.

How many people have done it?

Please post before and after of high/low 5v line.

This thread should go in the Case/Power Supply section. I haven't done the 5v mod and don't think I will ever need to because with pentium 4 systems there is an extra 12v line going into the motherboard for the same purpose(I think). I'll have to see, building the p4 system within the next week and will be overclocking it.

It's been a while since I have done the mod. Maybe 2 months or so.
My 5v line really didn't increase any, But it didn't drop at all, and my system is pretty much stable for having a "Geriatric" PS ($30.00).
It was very noticeable after I did the mod. System stopped rebooting all by itself. Some other probs disappeared too.

I now have an Enermax , umm, 465P ?. that is gonna go in my H20 rig when it's finished, Then the 2v mod. :D

It's amp ratings are MUCH higher than my 300w'r. But I will keep the 5v mod anyway.

If you've read the "Why is my 5v line so low" sticky by Hoot.
You'll see the mod is just an electrical "shortcut" for the mosfets.
It does help, and I do recommend it. It's not the easiest thing, especially if you've got a shaky hand. Just "Tin" everything 1st.

I did Hoot's 5-volt mod verbatim.
At first I was geeting 5.05v at Idle and about 4.92v ubder load.
Now I get 4.93v at idle and 4.78v under load.
I don't know why it has dropped off.
I did run a 156w pelt off my psu for a while (VERY BAD IDEA) that may have something to do with it.
:D
