How many people use head phones (mic) for games?

I just picked up a headset but I'm having trouble getting the mic to work... when I go to the windows sound recorder I talk into the mic and play it back but I dont hear anything... When I blow into the mic I can hear the fuzz over the headphones though...

Nevermind...I just fixed it.. the only problem is my voice doesn't seem to be very loud over the mic and its close to my mouth.

Wow these replies almost make it seem like my estimation is incorrect.

Yellowdart I havent joined a clan yet but I would be interested in doing so. I've been playing q3 and ut for years but for some reason (probably girlfriend related) I havent joined one.

What do I have to do pass a test

BTW- when you use a headset do you still use your main speakers or just the headset. Seems like if you try using the main speakers you get distortion back through the mic.

And yes, you are right, you leave your external speakers off during gameplay w/ headset. You'll get some nasty feedback (echoing) over TeamSpeak.

Yea if you want to get in a clan you pretty much need a headset. You can really make some friends with it too. More so, than you can just typing.

I picked up a $5 clearance headset at officemax. Maybe that's why the guys can't hear my half the time.

Sometimes I use headphones when I play CS, but I usually use my Klipsch 2.1's since headphone hurt my ears after a while.

I never was into really using mics, I thought of it as easier but still never spent the money. I got some with the UT2004 and love them. I am thinking about that amazon deal, those headphones rock! I was planning on getting them from newegg but dang thats a much better price.

Headphones are awesome for games! I'm getting a good quality set for my new computer. With headphones, you kind feel closer to the action, without having your neighbours come banging on your door at 2 AM
Using headphones where I live is essential because my parents would kill me if I turned the speakers up at 4 AM.
Having a mic is also an advantage, if you're not a retard, that is
I hate mic spammers.
Overall, headphones are the best way to play games.
