In your opionion, how much does the 9800 Pro 128mb worth? Should I pick it up at $250 or is it still too much? I have a Ti 4200 now, is it worth it for me to pick it up? How much would it be until you would pick one up?

$250 is a pretty good price........only if you can justify getting a new card that is :) in my opinion you have a really nice card already, what cpu subsystem do you have and how does your ti4200 overclock? I am keeping my ti4200 till at least 2007 then I might grab a 9800 pro for $80 then

I have an AMD throughbred 2100+ @ 2337 Mhz, my MSI Ti4200 is hard coded for everyday use at 284/584 stock cooling. I like to play my games all max out, tried that on Halo (recently bought) and it was horrible (same with C&C: Generals) or on RTCW:ET at the rain level, if I stand outside and use the bino, it's down to single digit. So I'm hoping this card should last me another 2 years at least. I bought the MSI back in April of 2002, so almost 2 years.

I had a Ti4200 that bit the dust. I got one of the 9800np's from Circuit City for $199 about a week ago. It Kicks A$$!! I can run all the eye candy in Max Payne 2, FS 2004, Raven Shield, etc with no lag. If you can get a 9800Pro for $250, and you can afford it, then go for it. As far as the 2 year thing, it depends on how well game desiginers take advantage of dx9.0 (or even dx 10.0) and pixel shaders. You should be able to go for 2 years though. Or you could wait until HL2 comes out and then upgrade. The 9800 Pro may be down to $200 or less by then.

Oc550?

That is just plain sad man. 2007? Guess you will still be playing games like HL at high FPS and still bragging, while we are all Playing HL20 LOLOL. ROTFL.

Thanks man i needed that.

$250 is a great price for a 9800 Pro. I know, I've been scouring eBay for weeks now

jmcmike, you missed one. I picked up a 9800 Pro for 221.83 yesterday off Ebay. And if this is not a coincedence, I too, am replaceing a 4200. Although the 9800 is going in my "game" box to replace a 4600 and then the 4600 goes to my "video" box to replace a 4200. I am anxious to get the 9800. I have been all Nvidia since a TNT.

Actually, I didn't really miss anything. :) Here is the link to the 9800 Pro OEM I just picked up. What I meant to say is that deals like that are hard to come by. Most of the 9800 pro auctions end up costing $250->$290 after shipping since so many of the sellers gouge on shipping rates. The Buy It Now deals like the one I got seem to go very quickly. I was lucky enough to jump on this only an hour or so after it was posted.

BTW, I too am replacing a Ti4200...

I highly reccomend you pick up the 9800 Pro immediately! I upgraded to one from a ti4200 and I'm sooo glad I did, the speed and image quality will knock your socks off!

The one I got said it was a new card but it was ccard only - no accessories. My guess is an RMA replacement. I am hoping that it will have the Samsung as such, at least my fingers are crossed. Good luck with the new card.

Sheesh, would you believe that some people are already bidding upwards of $40 for these things? Get a grip people, the full retail will ikely be $40 and you will be able to get it on sale for $35 at one or more stores the first week it's out if you look hard enough.

This is why eBay can often be so frustrating. Too many goofballs without a clue bidding everything too high.
