How much space are you using on software ?

I just recently looked at my collection of download "freeware and stuff that I've backed up off of CD's " and it's pretty big , how much HDD space are you using on software "backed-up" ? hmm and what's your largest file size ?

over the years i have 24.7gb of stuff. pretty pathetic, i know. cant do much with a 56k.

14 Gb for program files, and (remember im 56K) 15gb+ about 8 CD's worth of backups... cant wait till i get cable

Currently, my downloads folder is 2.82GB. All that stuff over my 56K line

Largest file... Call me insane, but it's a 2.1GB text file filled with prime numbers. It's zipped up and stored on CD, and I'm currently calculating more primes to fill a second CD. Grand total when I'm done should be 4GB of primes, 2 through 7 Billion

Largest single file? Right now, a 1-GB encrypted disk image, although in the past I have created a 4.1 GB file just to prove that the ext3 filesystem can support files larger than 4 GB.

right now in my "programs" folder which consists of download files, small progs etc i have 1.07g - 1,719 files ,
221 folders.

and i back that folder up and empty it everytime i format - and i just formated a week ago. - total, god i have a 40cd case full of back up cd's anbd DVD-r disks, so takea guess

NOW - if we are talking TOTAL downloads of EVERYTHING *cough cough*

i just had to buy a 120g new drive

total right now - not burned to cd is

83.7g - one drive

my downloads folder for recent stuff -

3.94g


On CD - mm, here with me - 2 120disk folder full of 700mb cds and 4 40cd holder full of 700mb cds - 1 50 spindle and 20 spindle of burned cds waiting for me to make labels.

back in canadan 2 400 cd folders full of 700mb cd's

i do not know how u can guys can handle a 56k! - when i had cable in toronto - i had a highest transfer one month of 237g total - i am glad they did not have caps back then..lol - not to mention on my ftp i have 3 120g drives and soon buying some 250g drives - aiming for 1 terrabyte(1000g) by the end of the year

I guess I should have posted mine haha, Well since I started downloading

about 300CD-R's about 50/50 600/700MB each "thats software"
andI've got about 150 700MbCD-R's with music and music vieos on them
and I've got only 6GB of Stuff on HDD "need to get me a 120GB HDD So I've always got access to what I need when I need it so I don't have to go looking though cd's with out labels <--bad habbit.
