I want to get a Barton 2500+ rig, but I don't know how much it'd be if I got a case/nice hsf/memory/graphics/etc.
Anyone remember what they paid overall? (so I could get an estimate of how much I should save up)

Good for me that most of the stuff in my system was bought over the year or I wouldn't of had the money for all this. Just look at the Mobo and HDD price. I was so lucky to find a deal like that.

Look at system in sig: The parts not listed are 2 120mm Antec LED fans, Antec SLK3700AMB case, and 2 Lite-on optical drives :)

Cost about $700 in early November. I got most of the stuff at newegg but for the vid card and hard drive I got them at CompUSA and Fry's because they have insane rebates.

Keep in mind this is without the monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, and OS. I reused those except for Windows XP Pro which I got from my dad's friend who works at microsoft for like $20 :D

What's in my system right now, what I've bought in the past year:

Antec Super LanBoy Case - $83
Fortron PSU - $52
Abit NF7-S - $92
AMD Barton 2600 - $98
Mushkin PC3200 Level 2 - $152
ThermalRight HS, +fan - $50
NEC Multisync 19" FE990 - $240
BBA Radeon 9600 Pro - $183
WD 120GB SE HD - $90

Total--------------------:~$1140

I guess I've never looked at how much I spend, since I always spend it one upgrade at a time. For me, its lot more fun that way.;)

$763.77 shipped from Newegg:

- Aspire X-Sonic Aluminum Case (slk2600amb clone) w/ 350W PS
- Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe nForce 2 Motherboard
- Locked Athlon XP 2500+ (currently running 200x11, stock voltages)
- Dual 512MB Corsair Memory (the valueselect series)
- Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT (128MB)
- Liteon 48xcdrw/dvd combo drive
- Western Digital 120GB Special Edition IDE Hard Drive
- Kingwin removable HD bay

And I love it. Although I have a tendency to sell every machine I build to customers who love the looks of them. Speaking of it, I think this one might be sold come February.
