How the heck do I make this work? 27" X-Star DP2710 2560x1440 from my laptop

Laptop:
Alienware M17x R4
GeForce GTX 675M
HDMI 1.4
MiniDP or mDP (Mini DisplayPort)

Monitor:
27" X-Star DP2710 2560x1440 LED Monitor w/ Samsung PLS Panel (Matte)
Specs:
Resolution: 2560x1440
Monitor Type: Slim LED
Panel Type Samsung PLS (Matte Screen)
Response Time: 8ms
Dynamic Contrast Ratio: 50,000:1
Viewing Angle: 178˚ H / 178˚ V
Inputs
DVI-D (Dual link)
Audio In/Out

Which port and adapter do I need to use this monitor @ 2560x1440? HDMI or mDP?

Well, both outputs support that resolution so, I can't see why it wouldn't.

little bit of what Im being told
Regular 1.4 HDMI cannot output at this resolution with a sufficient refresh rate for gaming. Thus, you would experience lag if you tried to pair a top-of-the-line graphics card with an 2560x1440 monitor via HDMI.

The only thing that can in present architecture is a dual DVI setup. The next iteration of HDMI should catch up, but I don't think it's commercially available and certainly the cheapo Korean manuf are not implementing it until it becomes standard.

which sounds like what you were saying about the gaming part.

My point was the weak gpu trying to push frames on that res. That makes sense though. I would see what mDP can output res wise and go from there.
