okay - i will not use multipull bits of copper - however i do have a problem in getting any sort of metal - the only place i know of theat sells metals in the size and price i want is onlinemetals.com and that is in america - am not. does anyone have any suggestions on what i can do to get some metal?

milling is not a problem, i am amazed at what i can do with my dremal and a drill .

Within the realm of cpu cooling, I have found a copper base of about 0.25" (6mm) seems to work well for the heat loads and die sizes of cpu's today (e.g. Athlon / P4 2 gig) for air cooling. A bit thinner is OK, but after that point of optimization, it is matter of what can be readily found if you desire to build a custom heat sink. As I know it today, I do believe a base under .125" (3 mm) is too thin even for water cooling. Good luck.
