how tight does a waterblock have to be i have a maze2 and i have tightened the springs down so far they are crushed .. but i have to to keep my temps from going up, is this normal?? the tighter i get it the lower my temps go and my water block is not that hot....shouldent it be a little hot if my cpu is at 100f????

Well if your water block is flat and your hoses are not pulling at the waterblock then i guess you need the extra pressure to do the job but i would be careful about going any tighter as you dont want to break your clips off or crush the CPU. your waterblock is transfering the heat so it should not be hot to the touch, i'm sure the bottom where it touches the CPU is a little warm though but the top should definatly not be hot.

Generally, the trend is that the tighter or 'heavier' the mounting pressure, the better the heat conduction. This is because at high stress, the microscopic surface irregularities get flattened out and mashed against each other (the CPU core and HS bottom surface), thus providing better contact with less micro gaps that act as insulation. However, there is a end toward this trend, that is, when your CPU core gets crushed by your over-enthusiasm in tightening the mounting bolts... 8`)

Be careful, DangerDen's site says not to tighten it so much that the springs are completely compressed. They recommend just enough for it to be snug. If you've got it tightened down further and aren't crushing your core, then I'd say you're ok.
