I have a generic gateway AMD mobo-and didnt turn of ASCII when i did a fresh install of win2k. And im running 2 USB devices and seen to have VERY current lockups-also HD powers down then beep while coming backj on-as it does when u turn the computer on. Was thinking that i might have some stacked IRQs ans was wondering if there is a set place to check/change them-thanks guys

You can't change irq's from what i've been told, you will have to reinstall the operating system and push f6 when asked if u need to install scsi hardware.. etc. Well to check ur irq settings do the following.. Clik on start, go to programs, then click on accessories then go to system tools, then click on system information, then that program will display all ur shared irq's and any possible conflicts..
P.S. the reason you can't really change Irq's in windows 2000 is beacuse of ACPI. It takes all your hardware and sets them to 1 irq, which is supposed to increase performance. Works better with service pack 2 installed after this service pack all my problems stopped..
hope this helps..
