I did not mean msm messenger. The one I am talking about is the internal one. it is a built in feature of xp.

Got this from that site.

Windows XP

Click Start->Control Panel
Click Performance and Maintenance
Click Administrative Tools
Double click Services
Scroll down and highlight "Messenger"
Right-click the highlighted line and choose Properties.
Click the STOP button.
Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar
Click OK

There ya go. No more unwanted spam.

Go Griz!
Click START

Fastest way, without deleting or otherwise removing files and such...

go to START..

click on RUN...

type in "services.msc"...

then just find the service called "messenger" (ironic huh?...lol) and set it to "Disabled"...

:pOOF: no more messenger...

This is the best way, I use it everytime I reformat and have to set up XP all over again. It seems to get rid of it better than other ways.. Highly recommended if Messenger is bugging you.
